Golf Club Foundries
There are many foundries in the world today, but only a few who specialize in manufacturing golf club heads to the exacting tolerances demanded by the quality golf club designers. The major golf companies and the quality golf club component companies utilize the services of the same foundries.
Golf club heads designed by such companies as Titleist, Nike, Taylor Made and Callaway are produced in the same foundries as the designs from Tom Wishon Golf Technology, Alpha Golf, Ralph Maltby and Infinity Golf. All these companies demand the finest metal alloys and have placed strict tolerances with respect to loft, lie and weight in the manufacturing process.
The difference between the major company product and the product of the quality minded component company is only the design concept of the golf club head itself and not in the material or manufacturing process itself.
Knock Off or Clone Golf Club Heads: There are companies who design golf components, actually not usually not an original design, but a design similar to an established product. These companies have virtually no research and development facilities and have little, if any capital invested in original design concepts. They use foundries with little to no experience in golf club head production who are unable to attract the business of the quality golf design companies. They often use scrap metal and inferior alloys in the production of these "knock off", also known as "clone" club heads. There are no strict guidelines in place with respect to tolerances. The result is a club head that resembles a popular club head from a leading manufacturer made from inferior metal alloys with specifications for loft, lie and weight all over the chart. Sure these club heads can be used to make an often attractive and inexpensive golf club, but the product is vastly inferior to the quality club heads produced at the established, experienced foundries. I do not market any of these products...ever.
Component Company Qualifications and Experience: I use only the best quality components from experienced component companies. I only offer designs from Tom Wishon Golf Technology, Alpha Golf, Ralph Maltby and Infiniti Golf. I have provided a brief description of the experience and expertise of each of these companies in that companies menu.
If you have not heard of any of these companies I invite you to do your own individual research on each. Each of these component companies do original design research and development and have close to 100 years combined experience in designing golf clubs. Tom Wishon has designed golf clubs which have not only been used on the PGA Tour, but have won at PGA Tour events and in Ryder Cup competition. Some of the professional golfers who have won with Tom Wishon designs are the late Payne Stewart and Scott Verplank. Alpha Golf has several players using their equipment on tour. It should be noted that, unlike the major golf club compaines, none of the component companies have endorsement contracts to these players. This means the players play this equipment because they prefer to do so. That says volumes about the quality of the equipment.
