"With quality clubs, a player of any skill level can improve their game" - Ben Hogan

Are Custom Fit Golf Clubs Cost Effective?

What do you get when you purchase a set of golf clubs from a major golf club company?  There is no doubt you get a quality set of golf clubs made from the finest materials possible, within the strictest tolerances possible.  The problem is there probably a 92% chance that these golf clubs DO NOT fit you and will do nothing to enhance you enjoyment of the game.  This season's model is basically the same as last season's model, except for cosmetics.  How I know this?  Because there is really nothing a company can do to improve upon the basic design features of the golf club head, especially in drivers and fairway woods because the USGA has put limits on the size of the head and COR value of the face.  Yet you are going to pay premium prices for these golf clubs!  There is no technology to justify these prices.

With a custom set of golf clubs you get the same technology, the same quality materials, the same standards with respect to tolerances from design professionals with more than 90 years combined experience in the golf club design business.  Tom Wishon has more than 30 years experience in designing golf clubs and is credited with more than 50 design "firsts", more than anyone in the industry.  Ralph Maltby has more than forty years experience.  There is no question these two component design specialists have more experience than ANYONE presently working for the major golf club companies.  So why don't they work for the major golf club companies you ask?  Because they are committed to designing golf club components for custom fitting and have committed their careers to this field.  Golf club companies are not, and never will be, committed to true custom fitting.  Why don't you see their designs on the PGA Tour?  Because they aren't interested in paying professionals to play their product, instead they are interested in providing you with the finest product possible at the lowest cost possible.  Mass advertising and endorsement contracts would only increase the cost of their products.  Both Tom Wishon and Alpha Golf have designed clubs which not only have been played on Tour, but have also won on tour.  Those who used their product did so because they wanted to play them, not because they were paid to play them!

So with custom fitting, you get the finest product, assembled from the ground up to fit your specific requirements and at a much lower cost than the current cosmetically redesigned product from a major golf club company.  The choice should be obvious.
